ROT
ROT as a state of deterioration or decay manifests in many contexts of our daily lives. Through their interpretations of ROT, the artists in this exhibit cause us to think about the ROT that surrounds us in its many states, be it organic, moral, spiritual, cultural, psychological, social, or some other state of being.

thoughts on rot

it would be interesting to bring together a variety of works evoking rot as defined in a broad sense as a deterioration whether of something physical, psychological or cultural. i also like the idea of something left to rot due to neglect.

My Idea of Rot
Rot is a state of deterioration determined by processes through which matter or social relationships break down and become base elements. Rot in a social context is defined by the break down of culture or society where values and ideals previously held to are no longer valued by that society or culture. Rot in a physical sense is a process necessary for rebirth and or purification, where matter falls back into it's most basic elements. Is rot in a social context necessary then for rebirth or transformation to take place?
