Rot is a state of deterioration determined by processes through which matter or social relationships break down and become base elements. Rot in a social context is defined by the break down of culture or society where values and ideals previously held to are no longer valued by that society or culture. Rot in a physical sense is a process necessary for rebirth and or purification, where matter falls back into it's most basic elements. Is rot in a social context necessary then for rebirth or transformation to take place?
